Overview

Participants gain the expertise to plan and execute high-quality data capturing missions for digital inspections in a cost-efficient manner. Starting from the requirements and relevant regulations, participants learn to understand the associated fields of photography and photogrammetry.

As a participant you will learn the right mix of data capture means such as drones, terrestrial, vehicles, boats and apply them to create valuable data for further processing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). After the course, participants have the knowledge to plan and execute data capture missions for various structures, such as bridges, tunnels or dams. They furthermore understand the relevance of data quality for collaborations with other experts to perform structural assessments and create more precise lifecycle analyses. Participants can verify their expertise by passing the related exam and get certified as a STRUCINSPECT DCE (Data Capture Expert).

Becoming an Digital Inspection Professional (STRUCINSPECT ® DIP)

Remark: This course does not teach how to fly drones or control other data capture platforms. The focus is on mission/project planning in general and how to achieve an overall understanding of the process involved for generating and processing digital AI-supported assessments and lifecycle analyses.

  • The participants first gain a holistic perspective of the digital inspection process, the use of artificial intelligence, structural assessments and the possibilities to perform analyses for a more precise lifecycle management.
  • Specifically, participants learn to understand the relevance of professional data capturing for subsequent data processing and analyses. The two-day course is split into a theoretical part, covering requirements, regulations, key technologies, theoretical perspectives on the data capturing process and a practical part about mission planning and executing.
  • The first day will cover the relevant regulations for inspections and structures as well as opportunities and limitations for the use of drones in various scenarios and their impact on digital inspects. The characteristics of relevant technologies, used by photography, photogrammetry and artificial intelligence are explained and their relevance for a professional data capturing process are outlined. A special focus on the use of drones to collect data will be highlighted as this method contains a lot of benefits in specific scenarios.
  • If held offline, the first day is concluded by joint lunch, in which participants can share their previous experiences and learnings.
  • The second day focuses on the practical application and consists of mission and cost planning, best-practices, collaborating with other experts, case studies and the use of advanced services such as Artificial intelligence, BIM or lifecycle analyses. Participants must work on their own use case and show their abilities to plan a professional data capture mission. Participants can, at the end of the course, verify their expertise by passing the related exam and get certified as a STRUCINSPECT DCE (Data Capture Expert).
